The Game:
There are a number of mines hidden within the grid in the center of the screen. Your job is to locate these mines without actually uncovering any.
To start, click on any square. If you reveal a mine, the smiley face will frown and you lose. Otherwise, a number will show. This number is the count of mines around that space. Continue to open up random spaces until a large area opens up automatically.
The Logic:
If a space says it has 1 mine next to it, and there is one covered square next to it, then that covered square must have a mine under it. Simple no? You will want to mark that mine with a flag! To do this, click on the space saying "1". A flag will be placed on the mine, and that space is now safe. You will also notice that the Mine Count goes down by 1. When the Mine Count reaces 0, you win!
Now that you have a space flagged, you can manually clear spaces around it that you also know can't have mines, or you can do the fast thing. Click on all the numbered spaces around the flag. If the mines and flags balance around a space, then all other non-flagges spaces are cleared for you! Try it. Continue clicking on all the open spaces so that you quickly clear out the field.
Getting Stuck:
Ok, you took the easy route, and clicking on the uncovered spaces doesn't do anything any more. Now you have to think. Start trying to figure out where the mines might be! It's not that hard, but the computer will only do the "Gimmee's". Harder combination you have to work out yourself.
The Clock:
The clock starts ticking when you uncover the first mine. If it reachs 999 seconds, you lose. A record of your fastest times for each level is kept so you can brag to friends.
